While Topps/Bowman released prospect cards for Scott in 2002, this was his first appearance on a Fleer product and is considered a rookie card in pricing guides; otherwise, many of us would consider this a first year card.

Brother of Jerry Hairston Jr, son of Jerry Hairston, nephew of Johnny Hairston, and grandson of Sam Hairston, Scott is from a long line of successful ballplayers, the biggest "baseball family" in MLB history (the Boones and Bells each had 4 members in MLB). He played alongside Jerry Jr. with the Diamondbacks and has compiled over 100 home runs in his career. 2014 is his 11th season in MLB; he currently plays with the Washington Nationals.
