The listing, Lot 1124 for 1 MINT Vending Machine 25¢ US Stamp Scott #2522 Postal History First Self-Adhesive has ended.
This is for 1 MINT 25¢ Vending Machine US Stamp Scott #2522. It is a real piece of Postal History because the US Post Office began phasing out their Vending Machines as of 2009 when computer vending stamps became the "IN" thing. This stamp has printed on the reverse side, "DO NOT WET EXTRAordinary Stamp Patent Pending 1989 Self Adhesive." As far as I have been able to find out, this was an experiment in self-adhesive stamps and the first in USPS history. The stamp is made from Mylar or a very thin Mylar-like material. Unfortunately, the reverse side shows up after scanning as only a blank back. THe printing is in a very light gray.
