The listing, 1941 to 1945 WWII OPA Ration Token Meat "UT" RED POINT Roosevelt Office Price Administration butter has ended.
OPA ration tokens were issued to the US consumers public by the FDR federal Office of Price Administration as food rationing beginning in 1941 and then from 1942 until 1945. (In honor of my mother, who served as a WAAC *Womens' Army Air Corps" during World War II I am listing this on Mothers' Day as an item to share.)
Rationing began following the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II in an effort to conserve resources.
Offered is another single RED POINT OPA coin like token with front and reverse shown.
The two letter combination on this token is "UT" (I have a few other combinations of letters if you collect these tokens and are seeking a particular letter combination, please let me know.)
Research indicates there were 30 varieties of these tokens based on two different letter combinations on each side of the number "1" (both sides of the token point are the same), however, printed upside down from each other - as shown here.
This dime sized 16 mm small compressed wood fiber pulp token or celluloid, as metals were in short supply for the war effort, would have been used for meat and butter purchases and exchange for rationing stamps and tokens.
Very readable embossed print In nice condition as a World War historic related item.
