This is a bracelet hand crafted by Artisans
It is made out of german silver aka nickel silver, which
in fact has no silver in the metals at all..see below...
It has an adjustable bracelet - ring so it can fit many sizes....
its adorned with abalone shell and has a sterling silver overlay..
This can be cleaned in regular jewelry cleaner without amonia...amonia eats the surface of the piece...
after cleaning rinse well and completely dry..
to store when you arent wearing it wrap in a paper towel or tissues and store in a ziplock baggie...(helps keep the oxidation minimal)
It being non silver it will have to be cleaned more often...

Some metals may be called 'silver' when, in fact, they are not (except in coloration). For example, nickel silver (also know as German silver) is an alloy consisting of about 60% copper, about 20% nickel, about 20% zinc, and sometimes about 5% tin (in which case the alloy is called alpaca). There is no silver at all in German/nickel/alpaca silver.

I have tried to make this understood what the item is what its made of and why...

The term “slave bracelet” has nothing to do with actual slavery. The unusual piece of jewelry was so called simply because the bracelet and ring are attached to one another, and therefore the ring is a “slave” to the bracelet and vice versa.
They were popular in the 20's 70's and are making another comeback....these were in the 70's called hand flower bracelets and have also been called gypsy bracelets....

Im a fan Gypsy and somewhere in a box I have a couple if the sterling ones too emerald and saphire ..a couple necklaces and a cuff bracelet i need to find...the workmanship these people do is amazing and I am proud to list the items they have made to be able to share with others and thank you ..I believe in spreading knowledge .. if you have it share it lol :

I have the same sensitivity ... turns my skin green and I break out, like hives sort of. A shame as I have several and love this set up. Very pretty. I have found that if I coat the side that touches my skin in a clear nail polish,that seems to help. I re-polish about every other month. Just an FYI if someone else would like to try.

Beautiful, but I cannot wear German silver because I have a sensitivity to nickel and other base metals. Can only wear sterling or gold.

Not according to all the research I've done on line ...The information I've posted is for what is called German Silver which is also called nickel silver..copper zinc and nickel and when they add tin its called alpaca silver mostly the last comes out of Mexico... I do know that there are hallmarks for german silver though but not in this case...Thank you very much and I'll keep trying to find out more :))

I love these bracelet/ ring items. I had quite a few of them many years ago but through the years from moving and such have lost most of them. I am so glad they are making a come back.
