Wascoite is petrified lake bed from Wasco, Oregon. The Native Americans in the area used it for making arrowheads and tools, it was re-discovered by a prospector who became curious about the pit the Indians had dug to get the material out. Wascoite is generaly thought of as a picture jasper. Formed in concentric, irregular circles with shades of tan, lavender, yellow, pink, and red. There was also a brown & white veriety, referred to as a bedded jasper from the Wasco, Oregon area. Some would clasify this type as a Jasper Agate.
