Description

The listing, Silver Ring w/ Amber Colored Stone. has ended.

This ring was given to me back in 2000-2001. I was told it was old, but I have no verifiable proof of that. It looks old to me, but that is up to you to decide, if you can, by the photos.

The stone may be amber, but again I'm not sure. I owned an amber ring before and this stone has many of the same characteristics. There is an inclusion in the stone, but appears to be a small fissure perhaps, inside of the stone.
It is marked .925,or .325...even using a 60X magnifier I am unable to feel absolute by one or the other, so it is believed to be silver, just unclear if it is purity of .325 or .925. It's a size 10. I'm a man with a size 10 pinky finger (photo). I'll try to add some more daylight photos soon.

I have no problems with questions. I'm glad you asked, because it made get out the 60X magnifier, lol. What appears to .925 is in a small rectangle and embossed in the metal and is located on the outer bottom edge of the ring. Also there is very small oval shape with appears to be a "W" and possibly an "O" or a "C", also embossed into the metal. After seeing this close up with such powerful magnifier, I am more convinced this is actually an old ring, as I seem to recall seeing examples of some of the old silver markings. And also, close up with the magnifier it looks as if part of the "9" is missing and worn. Maybe some other more knowledgeable Listians can offer some additional information. I'm not a jeweler or expert of old metal markings. I am trying to answer and supply the most honest info i can though. Hope it helps.

After doing some research, it could be a .325, but I truly unable to decide which one. Tomorrow I will try to draw what it looks like and scan and post that as a photo.

I'm still doing research on this, as it seems that the .325 is used also with gold....yellow and white both. I think I will take this to either a jeweler or gold buyer to see if they can identify better

Glad you like it. This ring had a lot of emotions attached to it for me. Gladly, those feelings and emotions have long moved on lol. I am going to take it to a jeweler either Friday evening or Saturday. I just want to do my best at describing it the best I can. And right now there is some question in my mind whether it is silver or white gold. Since I can't definitely tell whether it reads .925 with a messed up 9 or .325 with a strange looking 3, lol.

Hi everybody, well, I took this into a small jeweler called Main Jewelers in Columbus, Ohio. They also buy gold and silver. I've sold some scrap silver there before, so that's why I chose them. She said the ring is definitely sterling silver. I asked why the the .925 was so hard to read. She said it a just appears to be worn. Oh......and I asked what the stone is and she said amber. So it is what I thought it was. I figure if somebody buys gold and silver, they should know, lol. Hope that helps everybody out. I know I am relieved to feel a little more comfortable in what I thought and the words I posted here.....even though those words could be considered unsure and confusing. I never want to be mis-leading. Good luck everybody!
