The calyxes will develop flowers, which bloom all season long. Once the flower dies..each .pod will start to develop its seeds. Id say most produce about 20 seeds per pod, but they usually are not ready for harvest till about November, when seeds are brown in. The pod is encased in rich red fruit petals, that have a variety of culinary uses. Most notably, are for their use in making Jamaica tea, Although jams, sauces, and eating cold in salads, are just a few ways the fruiting flowers are enjoyed.
