Yeah, it plays nice and loud. It's a few years old, so it does kind of get a little static-y if you turn it up too much. As for the reception, it';s a portable radio, so it will break up from time to time or if you hold it wrong.

Does it require the use of headphones or does it have a speaker on the inside to you can listen without headphones?
