This Heirloom is both ornamental and edible!
You will receive 25 seeds of this deep reddish-purple Amaranth.
The leaves can be harvested all season long, and eaten as greens, and the seeds are a very nutritious grain.
"This heirloom was brought to the US from Germany in the 1880's, and so named because the huge flower takes on the appearance of an elephant's trunk."

I grow these. Young leaves after a rain are great fresh in a salad or my preference, stir fry with some fresh garlic, better than spinach.
