Description
The listing, "WOW!!" NO. MICHIGAN STATE STONE has ended.
This stone is called a Petoskey Stone. It's only found on the beaches of Northern Michigan. It is fossilized ancient coral, and is named after Chief Petoskey an Ottawa Indian. It means Rising Sun or Rays of Dawn. It is 1 1/2 inches long, and comes with a 16" silver chain which is stamped 925. It's a real neat piece of Michigan history.
Questions & Comments
I am glad that I could give a little history to the stone. It was given to me by a patient of mine's daughter a long time ago. I also have one that is not finished.
I always loved Petoskey stones but never knew the history behind the name or the meaning. I always go up there to visit my grandparents and go searching for them because they are so pretty. I can see how they got their name because of the meaning behind it :) Excellent listing! I am watching it ;)
I do not understand why my comment was blocked? I was only being nice :/ oh well its ok it is your auction..... Anyways nice listing and I hope I can get the credits in time to get this for my mother :)
