Not sure of what kind of metal they are made of, but there are very strong and durable. They have some decent weight to them. As for the condition, some of magnets are missing from the back. You could always buy some new ones ans super glue them. There is a circular indent on each where the magnet was. It's just one of those small circle magnets. The magnets themselves are very strong. I have some of the magnets that fell out and will include them in the package if you would like to try and glue them back in. I will put a (*) by the ones in the list that are missing their magnets.

I apologize for the steep shipping charge, but because of their weight they cost quite a bit to ship.

Although slightly damaged, these could make a significant addition to any Harry Potter collection.
