What are some of the uses and what size pots will it fit in to?

The round part is 9" and the bottom is about 5" deep but the sides expand and come up with handles on either side. I used with my big 9.5 pot as well as an 8" and the handles can fold backwards to stand while liquids drain. It can be inserted in boiling water to lift and drain or in oil for frying fries, fish or what have you. You can use for pasta or whatever you would use a collander for. My daughter I bought gifts) has chickens so she uses hers to gather eggs. I hope this helps.
