Now you have the option of attaching, e.g., different lens hoods, wide-angle, and telescopic lenses, polarizing lenses for shooting through glass, uv lenses, different colored lenses, close-up lenses, skylight lens, telescopic zoom lens, etc. It will serve to protect the camera's lens from dust, impact, etc. It's a custom extension. Like a makeover for your camera.
