This is just the best book! It's large and hardcover that did not come with a dust jacket. The front and back covers are of good quality and the book itself is like new. It has 816 pages plus a thorough index. The table of contents lists: Home Care of the Patient; Infectious Diseases; The Heart & Circulatory System; Blood Forming Organs & Their Disorders; The Skin & Its Disorders; The Lungs & Chest in Health & Disease; The Nervous System; Kidney's & Genito-Urinary Tract; The Endocrine Glands; Pregnancy & Childbirth; Infant & Child Care; Special Concerns of Women; The Digestive System; Nutrition; The Teeth & Their Care; The Eyes; Ears, Nose & Throat; Bones & Muscles & Their Disorders; Arthritis & Rheumatism; Allergies & Hypersensitivity; Emotional & Mental Illnesses; Your Operation; X-Rays & You; Laboratory Tests; First Aid & Your Family. Whew! A ton of very good information in a very well-organized book, though it was published in 1972 so I don't think it should be one's only comprehensive medical book but an adjunct to a relatively newer book, the reason being that this book is probably more complete than most and of virtually no cost, while good medical guides are quite expensive.
