I will clarify since there are a few people out there who can't understand common terms in selling. This CPU is 13 years old YES, it shows that clearly in the picture which is how they knew it was 13 years old. Since this processor continued to be manufactured until about 10 years ago. This box has never been opened and is still sealed from the factory. THAT MEANS THE ITEM IS: NEW IN THE BOX. Just like any collectible or any item that is still in its sealed original box. If it was made 50 yeas ago and was still sealed in its box it would STILL be in New in Box condition. I am sorry that there are people that can't understand this or don't want to understand. Also if you read this description above the 1st line of the 2nd paragraph clearly says "perfect for upgrading older P4 based computer." I thought that was pretty clear what the CPU is for.

Those that are complaining about this auction and who ever flagged it are simply showing their lack of knowledge of computers. I run a non profit and we do nothing but refurbish old systems to give to people with kids that can't afford a new system. We also take in people's computers and refurbish them and return them so they don't have to buy a new one. MANY of them use this very same processor type. In fact I'm working on 3 right now that have Pentium III CPUs. There are thousands of computers out there right now with P4 chips. Many people only use their computer for Internet access, emailing and basic word processing and to store and look at pictures and videos. Computes with P4 processors that WERE made 13 years ago can do that JUST FINE.

I am so sorry that some people are so dense that they cannot comprehend that NEW IN THE BOX doesn't mean that the item was manufactured yesterday! I suppose they have never heard the term NOS, either - NEW OLD STOCK. NEW = NEVER USED.

I myself work with old computers on occasion and if I didn't have a drawer full of these, would bid just to... you know what... screw it. I will. I think the aggravation you have had to deal with over something so stupid is... well, stupid.

Please ignore the ignorant and enjoy what is a perfectly FINE auction.

Thanks for the support. I was kind of shocked. I found it funny that some just don't understand what New in Box means. Collectors items and needed outdated electronic components aside, I hate to break it to them but I'm sure they have bought items off the shelf at every day stores that are more than 10 years old. Many manufacturers take advantage of mass production orders and then sit on product for years as they fill orders.

A 13 year old cpu (unused or not) hardly qualifies as new. Your description is misleading.

The item is still in new in box condition. There is nothing misleading about that I clearly give details about the processor and one of the pic Cleary shows the manufacturer date.

When other collectibles are sold like Star Wars figure that were released the 1980s are still in their box they are sold as NIB New in Box. If it were old that would imply it was used and in this case it is not. It is still new in its box still sealed. MANY computer supply stores still sell these older processors because they still have a use for MANY people. Again they sell them as NEW because they are. I'm sorry you don't understand.

Yes and may people still use older systems for projects and finding new processors for older ATX motherboards isn't always easy. But thanks for the attempt to try to knock the item.

Also there are many that collect processors and other computer parts. That's where this one came from. I collect them and bought a ton off another collector and found I already had 3 this same processor. However to be a collector of something like processors wouldn't interest someone of your high caliber.

It says in the description free shipping for GIN. If it just goes for 1000 I won't do free shipping. Just not worth it at that point. Cheapest I can get the shipping is $5.95 so I might do it for a lower GIN
