I so agree. These are a really great item. I have five children and all of them really enjoy playing in a dark room with these. They're alot of fun and do keep kids busy.

to young for a 3 yr old?

The package states not to give to a child 0-3. I've gave them to my child @ 4 and there was not issues. They can be taken apart if the child picks at them so then you risk the chance of them chocking. If your child is an older 3 year old I'd say it's okay but a younger 3 yr old not so much, it also depends on the child themselves on whether they put things in there mouth.
