Hi my dear friend! Am I mistaking or am I seeing things wrong? Does this penny say 1965 on it? I see the card says 1960 but the penny looks like it says 1965. If so, that is my birthday year. (1965)

HI; I am as blind as a bat. I was half aasleep when I listed it. I just double checked, if you hold it one way under the light, it says 1960; hold it another way and it shows 1965. This ts the wierdest thing I have ever seen. I purchased it from a coin shop as a 1960 Lincoln Memorial Proof. I think that it is a 1960. I will see if I can find a 1965 Lincoln Proof or Uncirculated. Hope that all is well! Have a great weekend! Your Pal, Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, I have blown this coin up on my computer and my dear, it in fact says 1965. Is there any way that you can have someone double check it? I have used 2 computer type tablets, a laptop computer and my smartphone to view it. All of the devices appear to show it as a 1965. I don't know my friend. It really does look like it. I would definitely get it checked. I will still bid on it. I do love it! Great to see you again! :) Arlene

Hi Arlene: I too "blew it up" on my computer, and it definitely shows 1965. When I actually look at the coin in my hand, with and wiithout magnification, it shows 1960. Could this coin have been double struck in the last digit of the date? Once with a 0 and the other with a 5. I agree with you via "blowing up the coin" it does show 1965, How wierd is this? I have 3 more of this identical coin (initially, I purchased 5 at the same time) I am going to photograph them and see if the same thing happens when I "blow them up." This may be the find of the decade, only visible by what you discovered in blowing them up. As soon as I complete this in just a few minutes, I'll email you back here with the results. Jimmy

Under intense magnification, it does say 1965, but with the naked eye, it states 1960! Weird!!! JM

Hi again: The other 3 show the very same thing. Under intense magnification, such as blowing them up, they all appear to be 1965, but looking at them with the naked eye, and with a strong magnifying glass, they appear to be 1960. You can only see the "5" under INTENSE MAGNIFICATION. Most unusual! The only thing I can figure is that they were double struck in the last digit of the date, perhaps over the 5, the 0 was struck. Any ideas!!???

Do you see the 1960 without intense magnification?

No, it's hard to see that without the actual coin here

I think you have made a a GREAT DISCOVERY!! I am tempted to take it off Listia, but I have 3 more, so someone else can have this one. Did you say you were born in 1965? How coincidental, I graduated from High School in 1965. :o)
