Description

The listing, VINTAGE Handkerchief - VERY Unique - with raised flowers - from Estate Sale has ended.

Who carries hankies with them anymore? Well, I think we should. They are so sweet and take us back to a time when everything had it's place... and nothing was disposable. I went to an Estate Sale (ha ha - I go to them all the time). This lady had a stash of hankies and I am about to list several of her items. Her home seemed to be smoke-free! My home is also (but pet-friendly... although my cat is not allowed to use hankies.. ha ha).

This precious little piece from the past has flowers stitched in every corner, and then some flowers are a separate piece that was stitched on the edges and then sewn on to the handkerchief. VERY Unique! Ok, so there is the smallest little smudge on it - looks like lipstick. It is a vintage piece, so we know it was used. I have NOT washed or ironed it. It is vintage and I want the winner to be able to launder it the way they prefer.

The entire hankie is 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. (See my other auctions for some more of these things from this estate sale. This lady was obviously well-traveled from as I could see from some of her other items she had there - and so who knows where this came from).

I ship SUPER fast, in very cute packaging (not that it matters, but it's fun to get something colorful in the mail). I pay for shipping. Items over 10,000 points get USPS tracking. (actually, if the auction does well, and tracking doesn't cost too much - I still add it to most everything I ship).

Hey girl - ha ha! You know there's always some estate sale finds in my stash of goodies. (will be posting something really cool on your antique page tonight - it's gonna require research).

WATCH for more auctions from me in about a week. I went to an estate sale today and the lady who passed was 100 years old!!! She had some beautiful treasures. I am keeping most of what I bought, but willing to share a few goodies (table cloth with matching napkins, fingertip towels and some needle point piece that could be used as a pillow front).

Signchic333, these are called appliques; and yes, it's beautiful. While appliques are usually premade, by machine, they were also, usually hand-sewn onto an item such as these beautiful hankies for ladies. Or, sometimes a pillowcase or the likes and given to a special friend. Just thought that I'd share this info with you, so you will know from now on, in case you run across something else that was done this way. It's still valuable because everything was sewn by hand back then, in tiny, neat little stitches. Good luck and enjoy your auction. -EJ =D
