Description

The listing, 1909 Mens Elgin size 18 pocket watch has ended.

You'll be bidding on a nice Elgin mens pocketwatch!

I bought this a few weeks ago from another seller, I got it because I wanted an Elgin pocketwatch!

Cut to a few days ago, I found a better one! Same age, but nicer case and movement. So I don't need this one anymore. I don't expect to turn a profit, I want this to go to a loving home where someone can enjoy it's history :-)

It does not run, though probably because it needs servicing, it is over 100 years old. The face is nice, one or twp chips along the edge but you can't see them when the bezel is screwed on.
The movement is stamped 'Elgin Watch Co' 7 jewels.
This would be a nice watch for someone starting out in collecting, and if possible this would be a great watch to restore or practice on! (If you're interested in becoming one)

Free shipping to the US.

Watch collecting is a very interesting hobby! There's tons of different styles and makers. I would start by going around to estate sales, look for older ones or ones that have 'vintage watches' advertised. I might list one or two of my own watches that I don't really need anymore.
I have a vintage 21 jewel Timex from the 60's I'm thinking of putting up. Not super valuable, but a cool watch none the less!

I collect watches, too. It's fun. There's a fascination with timepieces that some people just don't understand. But, some of us do! :-)

I'm sure I won't win this bid, but any ideas where I can get another one of these? I'm new to collecting and I'd love to have something like this.

I like this watch, I have a weak spot for Elgin watches as my Grandfather had one he carried for years. I'm "watching" this one closely!

I had a few watches from my father and grandfather aswell, a few Hamilton wristwatches. We had a pocketwatch but we had to sell it years ago to pay for bills.
