The hospice philosophy maintains end-of-life care should emphasize quality of life. At its core is the belief each individual has the right to die pain-free with dignity, and families and friends should receive the necessary support to allow the individual to do so.

Hospice is about the time between an individual's life-threatening diagnosis and death. The goal is to treat the person, not just the disease. It involves a team approach to care, including expert medical care and pain management with emotional and spiritual support.

Many times individuals donate items to Hospice to be auctioned off to help those who have no insurance, as no one is ever turned away.

Great idea, can I get contact info for this Hospice Unit, I have a small jewelry/gift shop. I have survived cancer but lost my sister in law one year ago to it and Hospice was incredible! Nice auction. F & W

Go to the front of your phone book. They should be able to provide local Hospice Hospitals and Gift Stores in your area. If you can't find it there, contact your local Council on Aging. Another good place is your local Hospital. Glad we started a little spark in you. So many people don't even know what Hospice is. Good Luck!

My Mom is in Hospice right now. They are invaluable. It's amazing what they do for the patient and for the family. I swear they have brought us all closer than we have ever been. I love them!
