The listing, Elgin watch used for at least 1970 might be older has ended.

Watch is in working order. As far as I it is gold ,could be gold plated. It is used so not any thing new looking. Has some scraches on the watch cover and the band. Thank you for looking, happy bidding!!!

This is the watch my grandfather had, and when I would visit him he would let me wear it. My grandfather was a miner in PA, "12 hours down in the hole and 12 hours out, drunk at the company store". I always say, "it would take me a few drinks to be down in a hole for 12 hours each day", that earned me a smack, It mad my grandmother furious but to me he was this tall, strong, blue eyed Irish wonderful man who would always be singing the super oldies, "like: wont you call me sweetheart" and so many others. I miss him, the lungs just aren't meant for a lifetime of coal dust. I hope your in heaven with grand mom, i know she's still telling you to put a saucer under your coffee cup, and I saw you spill it, just to make her mad and smile. I remember all the songs<3 Here's to you.

It never needs a battery, all you need to do it is wind it carefully and wear it. I notice that Danny lives in NC, my mom lives in Ashville. She moved there after 30 years of working for Philadelphia navy depot, she's so much happier now in NC!
Are you a horologist?
