THIS IS A REAL HAND PAINTED RUSSIAN BOX♥ IT STILL HAS PRICE TAG ON BOTTOM OF BOX.. 155.00$. THIS IS YRULY AN OUTSTANDING PAINT JOB.. BEAUTIFUL DEPICTION OF RIDER ON HORSEBACK. has original explanation slip.. don't understand Russian , but truly enjoy their art. I have 3 more bigger boxes in my collection

I'm not sure where it came from.. I only know that I bought it and a few others from an estate sale that belonged to a lady that adored antiques. Her son said she had most of the boxes since she was a small girl. She lived till she was 94. Hope that helps♥

This paperwork belongs to the different box. The style of this box is Palekh. The paperwork is for different style of box named Fedoskino. The box that the paperwork belongs to was made prior to 1991. You said that you have 2 more bigger boxes. Please check and see if some of them has the subject of 'spring birds'? This paperwork belongs to the box with birds, but not to the horseman box. This box depicts a subject from Russian fairy tale "Konek Gorbunok" (signed on the bottom of oval part) - "Hunchback Horse", written by Russian writer Peter Ershov. The picture shows when the hero Ivan caught the beautiful horse that was destroying his harvest, and he is depicted as riding it backwards.
