Questions & Comments
how do you get these to sprout?, how long does it take? thanks
Each of my seeds comes with a basic germination given me from the vendor. That said: When it comes to tropicals...I personally use the same method every-time. Drop seeds into HOT HOT tap water (I use old glass jars with lids) and let sit overnight. *Larger seeds need to be slightly nicked so water can get inside the shell, and let sit for 24 hours. Next drain seeds and put on moist paper towel folded in half, then fold the other moistened half on top of seeds. Now place in a closed plastic bag near a bright window. Be sure and label the bag. Check each day to make sure towel is moist (not soaking wet which will drown the seeds), remove seeds that have germinated and leave the rest until they do. Generally, your seeds will start sprouting within a few days with this method. Also glad you reminded me...I need to germinated some of these for my garden!
Not to worry, I'll list another round of them soon. The Flame Lily is fabulous and I'm excited to grow them for the first time this year. Careful around the kiddo's and pets though-it's not to be eaten.
