So is this similar to the climbing clematis or is it more tree-like? I can't really tell from the photos since it might be climbing a tree rather than growing from it. P:

Actually, this vine will do either. You can grow it as an individual tree or when left alone it will attach to a nearby tree and grow up it. Folks also use this plant for growing Bonsai's :)

Well I was going to possibly get it for my mother. She has clematis growing up one side of an old fence built for rottweilers (gone). I was thinking to have this growing up the other side but I'm afraid it either might be to heavy or will overrun her clematis flowers. :/
