Description

The listing, Republican Task Force Medal Of Merit has ended.

This was given to my father when he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention, but I don't know what year it was in his estate when we finished . The medal is in the original case that it came in , case is a beautiful royal blue with a cream satin lining on the inside lid with the inscription in gold. I tried to get a good shot of the inscription but it was to light hope you can read it.

With Ronald Reagan Signature on it. I am guessing that it would have to be his (RR) second bid for the White House. I am going to do a little research on this one. I'll let you know if I find anything out on it. What does the back of the Medal look like

The Republican Presidential Task Force was a political fundraising effort to support Republican canidates to maintain the Republican majority in the Senate. It didn't have anything to do with Regan's re-election because it was started in early 1986, just over a year into his 2nd term. The deal was you paid $120 annually and you got newsletters on what the task force was doing and who you needed to support. In return you also for this Medal as well as a lapel pin that was identical to the obverse of the metal.

They sent our invitation letters to most people regretted to the Republican Party and who donated to Regan's 84' election. My father was a member and I remember seeing his medal and pin. He used to have them both in his office. He loves Regan. He got to meet him a few time. He was the Chief of Police for over 35 years and got the chance to go to a lot of schools including the FBI Academy and the Secret Service Presidential Protection Detail school that trained select cops around the country to augment Secret Service when the President visited their area.

Haven't seen my dad metal since he retired. Not sure if he still has it but I'd still love to nab this one for him in case he has lost his.

Also there was a second design that came out later I belive. It the same on the reverse but the obverse was a left profile of an eagle, rather than the Presidential Seal. Also if i remember the lapel pins had the "Presidential blue" background. I remember him wearing it a few times.

His Captain had the other design. I think he joined later. Don't thing there are any other than the two designs. I have seen this one for sale on eBay from time to time and never think to buy one. Have not seen the other design as much.
