The listing, Super Summer Squash Quartet has ended.
Tired of that plain old dark green zucchini? Here are FOUR colorful and delicious alternatives;
Costata Romanesco is an Italian heirloom.
Deeply striped and ribbed, with a distinctive sweet mildly nutty flavor. Also a productive source for tasty male squash blossoms. If you want to win the blue ribbon for largest summer squash at your fair, grow Costata. It reaches 20 lb in a good year. 54 days, but
can also be allowed to mature - makes a great winter squash!
Saffron (open pollinated) - Early, with rich yellow-squash flavor and very high yielding. The bush type plants take little space and produce 4–6" fruit. 42 days.
Zephyr (hybrid) - WOW! buttercup yellow fruit with faint white striping and light green ends.Its nutty taste and firmness make this a garden standout - serve fresh, steamed, sautéed or grilled. Vine grows to 5 ft. or more, producing high yields of both blossoms and 4- to 6-in. fruits. 54 days.
Lebanese (open-pollinated, also called Mid-East or Cousa squashes), these are bulbous-shaped light green squash with white speckles. Robust crawly bushes are amazing croppers. Pick fruits when they are young and tender or allow them to fatten for stuffing. 50 days. (I have read that, if left to mature, these develop into an acorn-type winter squash - don't know for sure: I ate all mine as fast as the bushes could produce them last summer!)
This auction is for 20 seeds - 5 of each variety.
