Questions & Comments
Original
People are unbelievable! HorseTrader did nothing wrong intentionally. In fact, he did nothing wrong at all. A simple question to him would have cleared up anything you were wondering about. Also, instead of putting it in the general comments, why not send him an email through Listia. That would answer your question(s) and more importantly, it would not sabotage his auction, as I am sure he would realize that using the word "silver", which is a color as well as a metal, could confuse some people and he would alter the title or further explain and/or describe exactly what he means by "silver". As many people know, but I guess not as many as I thought, that Ike's, another "slang" term used for these coins, were often referred to as "Silver Dollars". Instead or persecuting the guy with comments that are just way over the top, those of you who are not familiar with coins and could have researched the coin and found out in minutes, the answer to your question....and then send an email. But unfortunately, people are quick to label others, often without even realizing it, or attempt to put a negative light on another's auction, either for selfish reasons or to appear as if they are some type of expert or as sad as it is, feel better when they put someone else down. I agree that because of the number of so-called con artists out there, you need to protect yourself and/or others. But there are ways to do it correctly and, in this case, it is pretty clear what is being auctioned off...or again, maybe an email to him is more appropriate. Good luck with your auction and I agree with you either stay away from the word silver or some people use silver (colored) Eisenhowers to avoid public persecution for GIVING 3 pretty nice coins away.

Thank you so much for taking time to make these comments! I really appreciate it very much! I could understand the reaction they had if I had purposely lied and said something about the coins just to try to get more credits than what the coins are worth, but I am not that kind of person! I try to be truthful about everything, after all a person is only as good as their word! We need to be honest in all our dealings with others and treat others as we would like to be treated! So far I have not had any unsatisfied winners in any of my auctions and I fully intend on keeping it that way! I had one lady who won an auction of mine, which was a ring, but she didn't have a verified shipping address. Her credits were automatically released to me. Most members just keep the credits and relist the item for bidding again. She cent me an address by email, but I told her I needed a verified address. She had not contacted me for two months. Just the other day she finally did, and asked if I had already sold the ring. I told her no, I don't operate like that, you won the ring it belongs to you! She sent me her verified shipping address and I sent it to her with free shipping, I always offer free shipping! I am not trying to toot my horn or call attention to myself, but that is just the way I want to treat others and be considerate of others, and only ask the same of them! Thank you so much for your comments, they are greatly appreciated!!

I betcha whoever that was didnt take the time, we all are human. Of course there are some who think they can judge others but then they never do anything wrong. Glad i am not married to that person. He/she must make their spouses miserable.Dont sweat the small stuff..and i mean small!

I really appreciate your comments very much! I know I need more patience every day of my life! I always try to let things like this run off me like water on a duck's back! But every once in a while I let it bother me!I always try my best to always treat others the same way I would want to be treated! I have ignored and overlooked a lot of rude and cruel mistreatment in my lifetime! I try to handle things decently and honorable without any rude response and own up to any mistakes immediately! It just seems that once someone starts something others want to join in and keep pouring salt into the wound! Everyone gets aggravated once in a while I don't care how humble they claim to be! I truly apologize for allowing my feelings to get the better of me that day! Some days it just seems like you everything bad is hitting you all at once and you should have just stayed in be and hibernated! All, well, water under the bridge now! Over, forgotten, learned from my mistake, never going to let it happen again, (not this mistake, anyway)! I am sure, being human, I will make many more! Thanks again!

I mean the more I look at a few, the more I am just amazed. People repeating what someone else already said....some making the same comment about the word silver even after you updated your auction, clarifying yourself. Read everything before you comment...

I had some two dollar bills that I put of for auction which even though they were 2008 they were in uncirculated condition themselves, they said because they are still being used today I could not list them so they deleted it! I also had some Kennedy half dollars that they deleted as well! So, I know exactly where your coming from!

Also, I get what you mean by salt on the wounds! It hurts but, the best revenge is to go on with life as if nothing happened! You can't let mean people get to you! Just block them on here & ignore them in real life!
Believe me, I get it. Growing up dirt poor, a lot of people we're mean to me.
I get it, dude! :-)

You are so right about that! It is just a fact of life, we are always going to have to put up with things like this from time to time!

Yeah! We all call them silver dollars! Don't let it get to you. Us adults that grew up in the 50's, 60's & 70's know exactly what you mean. I still call change silver except pennies. It's the color or habit, I guess. Anyway, you didn't commit a felony here, we all or at least I make mistakes.
There's always someone waiting to call you on your mistakes, you call them on theirs and they make all kinds of threats.
This is supposed to be fun not so serious! Nice auction! Good luck! :-)

...and people are always going to want to criticize before praise. Unfortunately, it's human nature.

You are so right about that! It seems to be easier to point out mistakes instead of commending the good points! I well remember a teacher taking a handkerchief and a magic marker and making a black spot on the handkerchief with the magic marker, and then holding it up in the air. He than asked all the students what do you recognize about this handkerchief? Everyone said it has a black spot on it. He said it is easier to recognize a small fault or flaw that someone has, but what about all the good about them! There was a lot of good, clean, white material still left in the handkerchief. Sometimes we treat people like that handkerchief, we are ready to through them away just because of one small defect! You are right it is human nature to react that way! Thank you so much for commenting! I really appreciate it!

I personally refer to these as "silver dollars". Any "real" numismatic person KNOWS where you're coming from. Keep on rockin' in the free world!

Thank you for your kind comment! I will gladly admit I still know very little when it comes to coins! I have just dabbed in them here and there! I have never been a serious dedicated collector who has studied and learned all about them! I do not purposely seek to falsify information or mislead others regarding them! It was just a habit learned from childhood of calling them silver dollars! Thanks again!

Just because you put the word silver in the title does not make it a mistake. After all they are called silver dollars no matter what they are made of.

Well, that was my thoughts exactly. From a young child growing up until now, I always heard them called silver dollars. Oh well, we all know what they are anyway regardless if someone wants to get technical about the exact substances they are made of.

FYI- only a few Eisenhower dollars are silver- they are bicentennial dates, with an s mintmark. The s mint made both copper nickel and silver Eisenhowers, so even that is not a sure test.

The Eisenhower dollar is often called a silver dollar even by people who know they lack silver content. Specially older people. It's almost a nickname for it.

Yea, I knew better myself, just out of force of habit, I made that mistake! Ever since I was a child, and my granddaddy and dad collected them, always heard them referred to as silver dollars. I guess some people really take offense to that, as if you had just murdered someone, or committed some vile unforgiveable act! It was just a simple mistake in my haste to get auction listed I should have double checked before finalizing it! I will from now on, believe you me! I agree totally with the idea of it being as a nickname for it. Everybody should know what you are talking about when you say silver dollar! Thanks for commenting I appreciate it!

My fan limit has been reached right now. I will fan as soon as I can! You need to get verified. If you win an auction and do not have a verified shipping address you risk losing your credits and not receiving the item you won. Per Listia rules only verified shipping addresses are aproved and covered. Listia members are less likely to ship to addresses that are not verified! Just thought I would let you know. Its for your own benefit to get a verified shipping address as soon as possible. Thanks again for your comments!

Horse Trader47.... No worries buddy!! People , all the time, every single day, make HONEST mistakes. Even "Natural pegans" .. Some real big ones at that .. Any way .. I do know that GIN is a favored drink for many across the world but what would you say for possibly sharing some G.I.N. on your listing? :-)

Because of continued harassment over a mistake i made in the listing of this auction i want to clear this up!!

i made a mistake of putting the word silver in the title description of this auction!

i apologize !! it was not done intentionally!!

we all know what eisenhower dollars are & what they are made of!!

i am sorry for those who were seemingly so offended by this mistake !! .

Thanks for the info! Don't offer the moderators any additional ammo! Done had one auction deleted just because of one word! I am not using the word silver anymore on any of my auctions! They can look at the photos and bid or not, I don't care!
