It is Summer 1943. Never has the Office of Strategic Services been more needed than now. Two of the Allies’ most important plans for winning World War II are at grave risk – Operation Overlord's invasion of Nazi-occupied France and the Manhattan Project’s race to build an atomic bomb.
A furious President Franklin Roosevelt turns to OSS spy chief Wild Bill Donovan – and Donovan turns to his top agent, Dick Canidy, and his teams of spies, assassins, and saboteurs behind enemy lines.
They’ve certainly got their work cut out for them.
In the weeks to come, their priority in fighting the Axis is finding and taking out Nazi rocket scientist Wernher von Braun’s new project – “aerial torpedoes,” some of which are rumored to be fitted out with deadly nerve gas and aimed at London.
The OSS must also try to rescue a covert team feared to be under Nazi SS control while attempting to exploit German intelligence agents and generals disgruntled with Hitler – and thought ready to topple der Führer.
And as if all that weren’t enough, they must battle the enemy within, as well: The Soviets – supposedly fighting with the Allies – are playing by their own rules, including stealing Manhattan Project secrets. Moles are bad enough. But if the Soviets build their own atomic bomb…who knows where that might lead?
