Going with your costume jewelry statement ... on the Ming Dynatie web page where your first two pictures are from, the ring sells for like ten dollars. Yet they IDENTIFY the stones as BEING blue fire opals and an amethyst. It could be that the stones are lab created, it doesn't say one way or another. A lab created amethyst is still an amethyst, though, it's just not a mined gemstone. But for them to come out and state that those are the stones then you're not looking at purple glass, which is what I would expect on costume jewelry. They call the metal silver, but they do not say sterling silver nor do they give any indication of it as being stamped with any kind of purity. It could mean silvertone metal, it could mean silver plated, it could mean a tiny percentage of silver. Minimal information is provided there.

You say the ring you have is stamped 925, which means it IS sterling silver, no? I'm just saying, if what you have is sterling and the stones are in fact what the web page says, to me it's not like what comes to my mind when I think "costume jewelry"--the spinning ring displays at K Mart and Wal Mart where you pull a pretty ring out and try it on, or the costume jewelry on the little hanging cards at higher end department stores that actually ARE sterling and sell for considerably more than ten bucks. So don't sell what you have so short :) It's beautiful and it's apparently 925 sterling silver. My own, uneducated opinion based on information from a web page which may or may not have truthful information on it.

Thanks for the info. You could be right. The truth is, I don't really know so, I would not want anyone to bid on it thinking it is something it is not. All I had to go on was what the vendor said about the ring & then I was contacted by a Listian who said the vendor was not truthful. It is a beautiful ring. I have worn my "silver blue fire opal" for a year & it still looks like new. Thank you for helping to clarify the info!
