Description

The listing, Aloe Vera Plant has ended.

The medicinal properties of Aloe vera have been known and recorded since biblical times. It has been used for a variety of ailments, and as an ointment for burns, cuts, and rashes, as well as an ingredient in various beauty preparations..Aloes have a shallow, spreading root system so when it is time to repot choose a wide planter, rather than a deep one. Use a planter with a drainage hole, or provide a 1-2 inch layer of gravel in the bottom of the pot to ensure adequate drainage. Use a good commercial potting mix with extra perlite, granite grit, or coarse sand added. You may also use a packaged 'cacti mix' soil. Will need to be planted upon receipt, and kept moist for roots to take. Will be shipped without medium, but kept moist.

It will have 4-6 fully developed leaves, a offshoot branch, and some roots. Right now it is still attached to the mother plant.

It will root that quickly? Amazing! I have just started getting interested in succulents. They are extremely ineteresting to me. I have 1 (one) at the moment that I got off of Listia (of course:) ), it is a Christmas Cactus and is growing like crazy! I am spending the day looking and reading about succulents and want to get an Aloe Vera start/plant very badly. My Christmas Cactus had a very shallow root base, is that normal for that plant? I have it in the wrong soil, reg. potting soil, but it has grown and is growing new shoots on the end all over. Any feedback on that? And since it has such a shallow root base when I start getting my other succulents I will have the proper soil so should I just move them over to the soil they should be in?? Hate to ask for free advise but as I said I am amazed by these succulents!! Fanned you, pls. fan bck, watching and will be bidding when the end day is closer.

Succulents should be in VERY WELL DRAINED soil as too much water will make them rot away from the base if kept too wet. My aloe Vera plants are from a very mature mother plant, and many have roots as they hang off the main plant. My pot as this point is so overgrown, that there is very little soil left and they are thriving with occasional watering in FL very hot summer conditions.

Roots will be wrapped in wet paper towel, inside a zip lock bag with air, inside of a padded envelope, and mailed.

Last one I shipped in padded envelope, with roots wrapped in wet paper towel, inside a zip lock bag with air in it to provide additional padding. Was received in good condition.
