Description

The listing, Arrowhead has ended.

This Is an almost perfect Schugtown Point.
The Schugtown Points are very rare & unique and are found only in a small area about 7 miles south of my house near the small community of Schugtown, Arkansas. Schugtown points are often misidentified as Big Sandy Points. Although very similar, the major difference is in the notches at the base of the arrowheads. The notches on a Schugtown point are more rectangular in shape, as opposed to the notches on a Big Sandy point having a little more rounded shape.
This was given to me by a co worker a few years ago & is not a personal find of mine. He knew that I was a collector & just handed it to me one morning. I have never had it authenticated, so I can not vouch for this as being an authentic Native American relic. I do know that it came from the only area in the US that this type of point has ever been found.
Anyway...... enough for the history lesson......LOL
Good luck to everyone that bids & feel free to ask any questions.

Me too. I have a large collection, and most of them are personal finds. It really gives me a charge when I make a good find.

To me, there's nothing like making a good find. There are so few people today that will take the time to hunt for these relics anymore. We have some pure hacks in this area, that will go out with shovels & dig up a farmers field :(( & most of the landowners in our area have posted their property due to these inconsiderate folks. I have two hot spots that I hunt now. One is right here on the homeplace and the other is about 30 miles from here on a friends place. I find alot of broken pottery here by the house, but the plows have taken their toll on the pottery and the points and it rare to find anything that's still intact.
Good Hunting

Hey ya'll...........
Who Want's What......???
I have a large assortment of 100% authentic broken points & chips...... or 2 of the most gorgeous reproductions that you've have ever seen...... SNOW WHITE
Let me know what you want me to list first. I'll only list one at a time on the points.
I will personally guarantee the broken points and flakes as being 100% Genuine Native American Relics. These broken point and chips have ALL been personal finds of mine & I will stand good as to their being authentic.
The reproductions will be as stated....... Reproductions!...... But Gorgeous …... Snow white reproductions, one being approx 3” long and a Spearpoint that's approx 6” long. Either would make a great center piece.
Let me know what ya'll want and I'll get the next auction started.
Good night

Your welcome. I'm fortunate to work in agriculture in N.E. Arkansas rice country. I watch to see who is leveling their farms, and will go out after a heavy rainfall and spend hours walking and looking at the ground. There are some folks here that will actually walk the muddy ground barefoot and they find more than anyone else. I've seen folks sitting on the tailgate of their pickup....smiling.... showing off a perfect rock..... and their foot dripping blood from stepping on a point. I'm not that hardcore, but I miss many good finds that are just below the surface.

not to be rude or any like that but how long have u been collecting them? My prandpa had a lot of them they where found on his farm that he had n they where sposes to go to me after he pasted away but the my dad's side won't let me have them.

I hunted them a few times as a kid (40 yrs ago) but never found much more than a few chips and flakes and just kind of lost interest. I've been an avid hunter for about 8-10 years now, after I stumbled on a good find. I hate to hear about your granpa's collection. I have a photo album, that my dad had in his possession when he was killed, and the woman that he was married to at the time refuses to return it to me. Some people are just a**es, but I figure that all things will come full circle with time :)
Thanks for your interest and your bids.

Where in AR did you get it (where was it unearthed?)

It was given to me in Paragould, AR, (about 7 miles north of Schugtown, but I don't have any other information as to where it was found. The fellow that gave it to me has moved away & I have no idea how to contact him. I truely have no idea as to yea or ney on the value of this one. I can say that there are some folks in this area that have mastered the art of flint knapping (making arrowheads) & there are some of these folks that have passed off modern points as being authentic :(
A good authentication costs approx $30, & if it's authentic, it's worth about $30-$50. But if it a reproduction, it's only worth a couple of bucks, & that's why I've never sent it off to authenticate it.

LOL! A friend's husband did that for a nephew of mine when we all went fossil hunting last year.
Thanks for the info on my arrowhead.
May I send a picture to you of my Murfreesboro find?
I spotted it as it stuck a little out of the ground--all because of that red coloring that it has. I had scoured the field and was heading back to the store/museum to leave, going diagonally across the field for one last look. It was a moment I had hoped for since high school days when a guy brought his arrowhead collection in for us to see. That same guy, three or four years later, took me shark tooth hunting near Malvern, AR.

Hi J,
I appreciate your interest & will let you know when I've listed any native american relic or artifact. I have just spent the weekend with 3 of my grandchildren & they are very interested in these rocks. I dug out a point and asked Zack, (the oldest (7) if he wanted to go looking for arrowheads...... & he hit the floor smiling. We walked through the garden spot.... & I distracted him long enough to pitch the point about 5-6 feet in front of him.
As he walked the row he spotted the point & was LIVID.
It gave him the bug....... & it's all he could talk about this weekendI
l'll go to my grave & never tell him different :)

Hey Waterfall...... I searched your listia wins.... til I found the point you bought from listia....... I think it is a gary point...They're not worth big bucks, but from what I could tell from the pic.... you have a larger than normal Gary & the zones hit perfectly. The Garys ranged from Tx, OK, KS, SD, MO, AR, LA, AL, IL.
Their great points...... but just not worth much :(

Thanks. I don't know if its bright red shade would be a help or not.
I found one at Murfreesboro at a place that is an historical site.
Another one that I have, I got off Listia from a guy who stated that
he found it on the ground in Missouri. I don't doubt his story. It has
the same (I guess I'll call it) patena (I hope I spelled that right) as
my original one, only it is larger.

I have several points in my collection that are made from very similar stone. Actually have a few that are pink & they are personal finds that I have made while rock hunting. Color is actually a big plus when dealing with authentic relics & is a great help while hunting for them too. The color contrast from the dirt make them very easy to spot & find.
Have you been able to identify the point that you found at Murfreesboro or the one you got from Listia?
I'm an avid rock hound...... but far from an expert.
I do it because I get really charged up when I make a good find.
I have every color from gloss black to snow white & just about everything in between. It still amazes me to look at the stones under a magnifying glass & see the detail that went into making them. These were the tools that enabled these people to provide for their family. The better the points..... the more they prospered.
