It is relatively easy to propagate African violets vegetatively by rooting cuttings; a leaf with an intact petiole, or leaf stem, can develop roots if properly placed in a rooting medium. African violet leaf cuttings can successfully produce roots in water or soil.
There is lots of information on rooting african vioets online.
I root mine in water or soil either way will work. They are easy to grow once you become familiar with their needs. I have mine under lights but a sunny window is good to. one that gets morning sun. They don't like hot.

So I would get 6 leaves? Those are what I would have to get to root? I would be very excited about it if I werent so scared that I couldnt do it! LOL!! Do they take normal soil? How long before they start to grow on their own, average? Thank you!
