Sterling silver ninja swords 3 pair
Questions & Comments
Just FYI these have nothing to do with Ninja other than being a copy of Japanese swords. This is a mass produced Samurai sword set. The 3 swords are called katana, wakizashi and a tanto. Longest to shortest. Also they would never be made out of Sterling Silver. They will be stainless steel and I'm sure is stamped as such on the blades. If these were actually made of sterling silver, one they would snap quite easy and would not hold an edge but more importantly would be worth about $3,000 is scrap silver alone.
If it has no markings on the blade and has no edge, there's a chance it's from Japan. Edged swords require a special license to buy and a permission letter to take it out of Japan. The swords they sell in stores in Japan are unedited and made from a Zinc and Aluminum alloy that won't take an edge and can't be sharpened. It would be easy to mistake this for silver since both are non magnetic. There are easy tests you can do at home to test if it is silver but I can't see anyone using thousands of dollars of silver to make a sword blade that would never work as a sword anyway.
I lived in Japan and have two degrees in Japanese history and have been an appraiser and authenticator of Japanese antiques and weapons on the side for over 25 years.
I'm always looking for well made display sets for friends that want a display piece for decoration. Some clients I have had I the past have even taken they antique swords and removed the fittings and placed them on an alloy display blade for display and so placed the real blade in storage. After all, in Japanese sword collecting, it's the blade that is most important. The handle, tsuba and scabbard are rarely original to the blade when we're talking 300+ years.
It comes with the stand and i dont know what the shipping will be till i know who wins..the ones that are talking crap about me do me a favor and dont bid i would rather not deal with you im not a scam and i have 4 badges so what
Verification is important. I see movie viewer, twitter, check in and you have it on your cell phone. Was looking for swords for an active military man who was injured at war, but worried with the verification issue.
I know what you mean. Sellers not having any verification always worries me. Many make an account and list items they think they will get a lot of credits for, and think that they get the credits up front so they can use them fast and then never use the account again. Not knowing that they don't get any credits till the item is delivered to the winner as described. Probably the best part of Listia. Does suck that it takes the 3 days to file then what is it another 7 if they don't reply? At leat you know you'll get the credits back if it's a scam.
