Description

The listing, Crumpety Crinkly silver Certificate *Real US Currency* 1957B series has ended.

Up for auction is a Silver Certificate Series 1957B One Dollar Bill.

"ONE DOLLAR in Silver Payable to the Bearer on Demand"

That phrase was printed on US Dollar bills prior to 1958 in what were known as Silver Certificates. No where on this dollar bill are the words "Federal Reserve," a pecularity that might have gone unnoticed in yesteryear. There was a time where one could indeed redeem these notes for actual silver. However, when the government switched to a completely fiat monetary system, the redemption for actual silver was no longer honored as well. Pick up a silver certificate as a reminder of those "silver years"; they make interesting bookmarks.

Note: The condition of the bill is what you would expect from an old bill. The hand feel of the paper stock is akin to accidently washing and drying bills left in a pant pocket.

* Shipping cost reflects cost of USPS first class stamp and envelope.

Thank you.

there is inherent risk in send cash for payment. i don't know why anyone would risk cash payment. also, you'd be spending 50 cent + first class stamp to get $1 in return, albeit with collector's value. to me it doesn't make sense.

unless, you pay for delivery confirmation you won't know if payment was received or simply lost in mail (by mail courier).

bottom line: if i don't receive payment, the item doesn't ship.

alternatively, you can ship me a "self-addressed stamped envelope" or SASE. basically put a stamp on an envelope addressed to yourself and mail that envelope inside another envelope to me. that would work too.
