FREE: Very old US 5c blue stamp from 1898 with Ulysses S. Grant

The listing, Very old US 5c blue stamp from 1898 with Ulysses S. Grant has ended.

Up for auction is another really old US stamp-- it's a 5c deep blue with Ulysses S. Grant, I believe it is Scott number 281 from 1898. It is in used condition with what seems like a fairly light postmark for such an old stamp. No obvious faults that I could see.

Here's the bigger scoop: My mom and stepdad both passed away a few years ago, and I've been going through some of their old stuff-- they were both dedicated "savers" of everything. In some ways, I guess they were borderline "hoarders." My stepdad accumultaed stamps, and this is from his collection-- although it's more like a giant pile of messy album pages and envelopes.

I think people should have fun bidding on stuff-- that's what auctions are all about! So the starting bids for my stuff will always be is FIVE credits, and we go from there, no matter HOW valuable something might be.
