You're welcome. Did you see the comment rosesylace left about embossing on fabric?? You want to make your own stencils tho, right? You might want to check out an electronic die cutting machine...I believe you would be able to cut stencils from acetate or other thin materials that would be suitable for embroidery work. Hope this helps. :)

Teresa Collins sells an embossing machine on hsn that can be used with fabric. You can use that machine and emboss. But, then, I'd probably think about using transfer paper and then sew the design in. This peacock embossing folder is one of my two favorite folders anywhere! Oh, and if you go to http://weronthenet.com you will see the evolution machine by We R Memory Keepers. They claim that you can use their die cutting machine to cut out fabric. (yes, I know it looks misspelled, but it's not!) I think Brothers also sells some machines that cut out fabric for you as well. A lot of quilters use those machines. hsn has a lot of die cuts and machines for people who make pillows and quilts.

I like the look of embossing but am unsure of the craft. What is the machine you are talking about? How much would one cost? It does look interesting. Thank you

Embossing is a very nice touch to a paper craft project...it adds texture and dimension. There are quite a few different die cutting machines available now...I think the most popular and affordable ones are the Big Shot by Sizzix or the Cuttlebug by ProvoCraft. The prices will vary [$50-$100+]...so shop around...you can Google them and find some good deals. I have the Big Shot and use it every day...it is very sturdy but a bit big/bulky and takes up some space whereas the Cuttlebug is more compact. Hope this has helped...thank you for your question. :)

Hi... Sorry it took me so long but I've been searching for an answer to your question and I don't think the Big Shot machine or the peacock embossing folder would work for what you are doing. Check out the comment above by rosesylace...I think the information she suggested would be more suited for your embroidered pillows. Thank you for your question...sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :)

yes stencil is what i was wanting wander if i used a embossing folder on a thick paper then a craft knife to make slits big enough to stencil threw i looked on youtube and saw someone use a cuttelbug with thin copper sheets but thank you for your help

That might work...I actually embossed a piece of thin vellum to see if that would be suitable...I think it could work but it might be a little time consuming to cut it out. What do you use to transfer the pattern on to the material?? :)

You might also want to look for the thicker plastic stencils that people use to decorate cakes with if you are going to use a craft knife. You might also look for embossing folders with not a lot of detail as they might work better with a craft knife. There are some on this site now and Id55 also sells a nice selection of embossing folders.

thank you so much for your help i normally use a fabric pencil to transfer i save the plastic from package bacon it is thin and can see threw i wash it and then cut the pattern i want but i thought if i got one of the machines that i wold be able to emboss on it then cut out the pattern i had never herd one of these machines before now that's why i'm asking so much about it before i invest in one
