It hurts no matter who does it. I have many piercings and tattoos and strongly recommend you DO NOT SELF PIERCE. You can get a serious infection, major blood loss, a piercing that is not straight (which makes it hard to pierce again to repair it). I know...no one asked for my opinion but think about it...would you perform surgery on yourself or climb up an electric pole if your lights went out? This is a GREAT product but I think for professionals only.
