Description

The listing, Cathedral of St. John the Divine commemorative medallion has ended.

This is a very beautiful commemorative medallion from St. John the Divine cathedral in New York. Made by the Renowned W. & H. CO., famous for making the North Carolina Dollar HK-494, for the New York Worlds Fair in 1939-1940, with their Hallmark on the right side of the Reverse at the bottom of the Steps into The Cathedral. The research I have done on this piece indicates a very low mintage of only 3,000 ever made! There may also be gold used in the guilding of the coin, based on what I've seen about it online, but the coin is mainly brass or copper. Frankly, I just don't know what it is made of, but it is a VERY pretty piece!! This coin is the size of a Kennedy half dollar, and has a smooth edge.

I have not found a mint year for this piece, however, I beleive it to have been minted in the 1960's or 70's based on the info I have come across online.
