This is a beautiful hand made necklace pendant from real WOOLY MAMMOTH TOOTH!! I personally hand shaped this pendant. I started out with a small piece of stabilized mammoth tooth ivory and shapped it by hand on my belt grinder. The fossilized mammoth tooth Ivory was provided by Wood Lab. "www.woodlab.biz".
Stabilizing is a process of hardening materials under vacuum and impregnating with liquid acrylics. It is then cured in laboratory ovens to fully seal. This process insures the material is preserved, hardened and polished to a glass like finish. I also have another auction listed right now with a fossilized mammoth tooth pendant that has been dyed a beautiful turquoise / blue color. Dye can be added to the arcrylics while in the liquid state prior to being cured. MAMMOTH TOOTH IS ABSOLUTLEY BEAUTIFUL!! This fossilized ivory is very expensive and retains its value for life. I attached this pendant to a beautiful 24" long real 925 Italian sterling silver chain. Having let all my sterling silver age a bit prior to adding the fossil ivory, the patina adds to the artistic characteristics of this jewelry.
