yes it does work and plays "backups" just not totally sure about all the memory cards as it has been in the closet for some time. Good Luck!

how can this play backups? I have several single game backups on cd-r's would it play those? I have one here on auction but its broke, I could never get it to play any of my burned PS games even with the switch disc game shark method....
