Players start off as a reporter named Matthew Carter. He’s gotten a tip about a secret meeting between the United States President and the head of the KGB. Before long, Carter finds himself drawn into a web of conspiracy in which he’s framed for trying to assassinate the President, and he finds himself being hunted down like a criminal. Unfortunately for Carter, he has no special skills that help him navigate his way through this hostile territory, so he has to rely on basic fighting skills to disarm his aggressors and accumulate their weapons and technological items. The one skill he does have that comes in handy is his ability to build weapons and gadgets from basic equipment that he gathers on his way. It is this combination of physical inadequacy and gadget building skills that gives COLD WAR an edge of suspense that helps propel the player through the game. The interesting gadgets and thrilling story line keep players engrossed in the game for hours as they try to keep Matthew Carter from falling into the enemy hands and becoming nothing more than another lost conspiracy theory.
