Researching these, I found out some amazing facts and thought I'd share:
1) Ladybugs come in lots of different colors AND PATTERNS. The pattern part stumped me. :o)
2) 7 Spotted ladybug red with black spots is the most common by far in North America.
3) The ladybug's spots lighten with age so if you see one without any spots or pattern, it is getting on up there in ladybug age...but...
4) Ladybugs only live about one year...although sometimes up to 3 years if conditions are right.
5) Real ladybugs come in red, orange, yellow, green, brown, black, and gray.

I couldn't find any references to purple or blue ladybugs, but then this is ART and if you can imagine it...why not a rainbow of these lovely creatures?
