well small seeds we always start in small pots here in California Summers are hot so we have a small Green House for our "growing seeds" we always used miracle grow and tried not to used pesticides the point of a personal garden is be less pesticides or nothing in all, watering and used bags or plant dirt for the start seeds after the plant grow a less 5 cm we passes to the place going to stay .....hope helps
