would this be good for a bit darker than ivory skintone to contour the face?

Yes, it would just be more subtle for daytime wear. You can use a darker color (pressed powder or foundation) for contouring at night. I just use a darker pressed powder for contouring but then I add this on top so its not so harsh. Looks very nice. If you have any other questions let me know as im a freelance makeup artist too! :)
