This auction is for a personalized signed copy of the book Butterflies and Angels. A story of a Survivor's strength, Inspiration and Will to Live. This book will be mailed to you directly from the author, who will sign and personalize this book for you. I got my copy and now want to share this awe inspiring true story with my Listia friends.

Let me talk about my experience as a cancer survivor. Physically and mentally I have been to places you don't ever want to visit. I have sttod at the edge and stared into a dark void. Yet I have Diginty Spirti and Courage.

Since the year 2002, is when my illnesses started. I have colitis, lupus, and dead lunate bone in my wrist and now have no bones in my right wrist. I had skin cancers, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, spinal stenosis, herniated discs and renal kidney failure. In 2008, I heard the words I never wanted to hear, you have breast cancer. Life is what you make it. I am making mine a good one, filled with happiness, smiles and love. You are more than welcome to come and join me.

Lauren A. Herman, Currently a retired banker specialist. She started writing books as a teenager and would read these to her sister, 12 years younger than her. Her and her husband, Lynn lived in Naples, Florida, for 21 years. Now lives in Lincoln university, PA for one year. She has 2 grown daughters and one stepson. She was also a Professional DJ and hosted many private parties and weddings while living in Fl. She has survived cancer and many other serious diseases and keeps journals on becoming an advocate against cancer through her Strength and will to live. She wrote a speech for a Cancer walk in Naples, and became the speaker for the Luminary Ceremony.

I hope u have more and can get more. I'm glad u all can't see me with tears running down my face. It has been and still is the hardest times I have been through. In 2009, we lost hubby s dad 2010 mine,2011, his cousin Paul who had been home for a reunion had just started working , In Aug. Of 2010 I lost my oldest sis and best friend Oct. Of that year got a phone call Scarlett Rose was fussy so they did what millions had done they brought her to their bed and one of them rolled on her and we lost her I had never gotten to see her.
2013 we lost our dear aunt's sister and in Oct. Of that year my weight went from a size med. To a 2 x they found out I'm a type 2 diabetic,I also have fibromyalgia or m.s. depending on the doc. I just got told I had p.a.d. peripheral artery disease meaning that all of the arteries in both legs from my knees down r blocked with small blockages so there is nothing I can do.but learn to live with it.
I told my husband not to long ago that I could handle if I did it to me .
Some days r ok and others I wish God would call me home but I know even though I can't see it God's got a plan and a purpose.

Oh Feb. 1st we got a phone call One of Pats cousin's was gone she had rotator cuff surgery had been sick forever surgery went great got a phone call an hour after she had a heart attack and was gone on the 2nd my brother called my mom Was gone let me back up in Jan Pat lost his favorite aunt in March we lost another cousin. I'm not sharing all of this for pity I've been in therapy for almost 3 years now and one thing have learned is that we all r connected and none has to go through this life alone.
God's there always now I am!!!

Fanned and watching, I too am a breast cancer survivor since fall of 2011. It was so scary to here those words "You have Cancer" I had the surgery, Chemo, and radiation, just had a check up and at this point I am cancer free, but with high "markers" that it could return at any time. They did the genetic testing right after the surgery, and that is why I had to do the Chemo, but still at risk. Since then I have worked every year with our "Relay For Life" walks.
so all you "GIRLS" out there GET YOUR MAMO"S. and God be with you all.

I also have fibromyalgia - copd- asthma - cfh - pph - diabetes and kidney failure The medication they gave me for my breathing caused diabetes. Lauren was on the other end of a phone when I needed her one black night --for that I wll never forget her

All of these stories. Wow. Tears all I have to say. God is amazing. And does answer prayers. There is a plan. Yes I don't always understand it either - I'll be totally honest. I just lost my dear daddy last year at young age of 54 to massive heart attack. And almost exactly the same week the year prior we lost his dad. And then his mom was year prior but the few months after. And then his oldest sister few months before. We lost four family members in less then four years. And we only have less then 20 people in our family. I also have crazy horrible /terrible disorder. Trigeminal neuralgia. Talking, chewing, wind, you know thing like that can make it flare up. And when I mean flare up. It feels like there is a huge knife slices from the top of the right side of my head thru to my nose. It is a terrible pain. And it happens so many times a day even with all the meds. It is something that generally happens to women over 50 w/ ms but I didn't have either. It just happened. Things moved fast. I was at the worst case scernio of the disease. And I still am worst case. I have had three Brain surgeries and radiation and I take 4different extremely high high dose seizure meds to try and stop the pain. But nothing works well. I am also on facial pain creme. Unfortunately I need another brain surgery.
But listening to you all I get strength and you should too. and hearing the stories of others on here is amazing!! Love to all the Listians!! You all rock!! Who ever wins truly deserves the book.

I know what massive loss feels like in 1981 Mother's day my favorite grandmother passed away - June 2, 1981 both of my parents were killed in a car accident and my brother spent six weeks in a coma I was 3 21/2 months pregnant with a baby girl and due to all the stress I miscarried on June 21, 1981. Jump forward 1 1/2 years to July 2, 1983 my son was born and died on Juyy 4, 1981. Jump forward to 1995 and my husband of 18 years was killed in a motorcycle accident. During this time I was battling cancer and other health issues. First diagnosed on my 30th birthday Nov. 9, 1990. then had surgery and followed with radiation treatment. Jump forward to 1993 and was diagnosed with breast cancer. surgery and radiation again. Just diagnosed again with tuneric lymphoma - tumerous lumps under the scalp but over the bone. Going to have to have more surgery third time for losing the hair - self esteem and friends. However, GOD sends us people into our lives for a reason or a season. So scary! Like most, I too am a breast cancer survivor who is just 5 years out! (Also survived thyroid cancer!) Such a surreal phenomenon, being told you are sick and could die if treatment isn't done immediately! Being overwhelmed is such a horrible place to be! We also forget that it is not just the person going through the cancer diagnosis but the entire family and friends of the person. Early detection is a must for cancer survival and even that is no guarantee. The thing to remember is The past is yesterday - Tomorrow is the Future and today is a gift from God - Present.

That is such a wonderful story, ,mine is similar however I didn't have Breast cancer.
I survived Uterine & Ovarian cancer, I lost the ability to bear any more children however as they did a complete removal of all of my reproductive parts. I could not have Chemo or radiation as at that time both had a 60% chance of killing me. I opted to just have the surgery and go from there I got the cancer due to exposure from my ex husband ~ May he rest in peace~ he fought in the first Gulf war and was there for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He was one of many who got very sick due to the exposure to Chemical and Biological weapons.

Anyway, You are a wonderful Survivor ~ I keep being pressured by my family to write a book about all of the problems you have when living with cancer as an chronic illness. Along with Epilepsy and Progressive Remitting MS. I was diagnosed with the MS about 15yrs after it's onset as there are symptoms that cross with Fibromyalgia. The Epilepsy came out of nowhere and landed me in ICU for 10days and another 10 in a step down unit where you are still monitored but you are not having nurses asking you questions every other minute. I was then transferred to a regular room & I asked my Doc if I could go home. i was released the next morning. My husband never skipped a beat he was in my room 24/7. Thank God for F.M.L.A we would have become homeless without it.

I am on no meds for it and if there is such a thing my neurologist said I have "the good kind" meaning my lesions always heal with the 1st. drug ever used. Praise God and God bless you honey!

I would love this book i witnessed my mothers suicide and ive been abused in every way and 2 this day my life is a struggle reading all these stories truly brought tears 2 my eyes and i wish we all could have it cuz every1 has had their own story of some type of struggle although they may be different its still our own battle 2 achieve happiness and peace.:) good luck every1.god bless
