Questions & Comments
Love this! I fanned you, and I am a big quilt collector.
Chrystal, I'm Kat, but I'm guessing you're talking to me. I mentioned the flour sacks to Norma because she said she hasn't seen the feed sacks like the ones used in the quilt.
We're in Puget Sound WA state, and the store that has them is Winco in South Hill. Winco has a Facebook page. Maybe you can ask them here if you can order the flour? :)
Buck, I'll try and remember to the next time I go. I just did my grocery shopping on Sunday. If I go back within the next 2 weeks, I'll look. Otherwise, can you send me a PM sometime the week ending on the 4th and remind me? I'm not even 40 yet, and I already have a terrible memory lol. :/
Norma, do you donate any quilts or know of anyone that does?? My very close friend and I are like sisters and she has been bedridden due to a serious injury to her neck and back resulting from a terrible vehicle accident many years ago. Her name is Sherry and I know that this would cheer her up for she always wanted a homemade quilt. (She has a queen size bed.) I'd appreciate any help that you can give. Because her birthday is June 22, I would love to surprise her with this special gift for she deserves it so much!!! She is truly a special person. Thanks ever so much, John
Norma, where in Washington? My mother used to take me to the mill where they had the flour sacks laid out on benches. I got to pick out which ones I wanted her to get for my dresses! Those dresses never wore out. Such great fabrics. I'd love to find some again. Renee, so cool. Just starting and don't have enough points to bid. Hope you do well.
That is wonderful that you know her name. My grandma used to make me dresses out of feedsakes. wish I had that fabric now. It is a shame they quit doing the feed in the fabric sacks. My grandma used to tell my grandpa wish patterns she wanted and to buy those sacks. lol
I fanned you. Do you know the history of this quilt? I assume it is all hand sewn. I recognize some of the fabrics! I would repair it and keep it on a bed in the spare room. Not many feed sake quilts left in good enough condition to repair and keep as a whole quilt. thanks for offering it up for us to bid on
