Want to attract more butterflies to your garden? This quick-growing annual produces vivid, cheery orange-red dahlia-like flowers from midsummer on. Its leaves are soft, dark green & lobed. Can reach up to 6' tall & 2' wide, filled w/ blossoms in just a few months.

Butterflies love them! I can always count on finding them where this plant is growing! Just look at some of the beauties I photographed in my own garden! All of the images above are from my own garden. Flowers are great for cutting too! Grows best in hot, sunny weather.

Start indoors 4-6 wks before last frost & plant out after danger of frost has passed. Or sow directly into garden late spring. Avoid exposing seedlings to cold. Personally, I direct sow.

Save your own seeds!
Seed Collecting: Allow seed heads to dry on plants; remove and collect seeds. Wear gloves to protect hands when handling seed heads. Properly harvested, seed can be successfully stored.

BEWARE AND AVOID -- GREEN bell peppers are UNRIPE bell peppers & aren't likely to provide VIABLE seeds. There are very few varieties that produce bell peppers that ripen to green. Same for GREEN Jalapeno & most other pepper varieties. It only take minutes to check the variety & discover the color of the RIPE pepper.

Apple seeds? Mercy! Don't get me started! JUST RUN AWAY!
