After his release from the Houston Astros in March, the Detroit Tigers pounced at the chance to sign J.D. after unsuccessfully trying to lure him away from the Astros last year. J.D. has been a VERY under the radar surprise for the First Place Tigers as he swung his way in the Major League Lineup after swatting home run after home run as a member of the Toledo Mud Hens. For the 2014 version of the Tigers he has been a shot in the arm for what began as a truly unquestionable outfield due to injuries and various slumps to players.
