Hi! Yes - that is my pet squirrel, Autumn. She is no longer with me, except in my heart. ;) And the Schleich website states that their figurines are made of a variety of plastics and a special softener. Thanks!
Sorry about Autumn! Do squirrels make good pets? omg i have a ton of questions! My daughter wanted a pet mouse they only live about 2 years and very high strung, rats it seems are trainable are squirrels?
Hi! Sadly - no squirrels do not make good pets, for children especially. I have 11 pet squirrels and have also let many go in the wild. But I rescue them and raise them up from before their eyes are open and sometimes before they have fur. So, essentially they think I am their mommy. I have several now that I can hold and pet - they will sit on my head or my shoulder and climb all over my body. Imagine their sharp claws running up and down you! It hurts, but I am used to it! (and all scratched up!) A few of my squirrels would rather not be held and are not all that nice - but they are over 5 years old and very spoiled, so I could not let them be free. Autumn was very special and kind - but she had health problems, as she was hurt as a baby when her nest fell out of a tree. That is how I get them - my husband takes down trees and when there is a nest and they can't be reunited with the mother - they come home to me! Autumn was so nice and I loved her so and she loved me unconditionally. She never bit me or scratched me (on purpose!) - she would sit nicely on my arm while I used my laptop! But she started having seizures and getting really sick - she died last July. I miss her so! She was nice to everyone, even my unruly kids! Squirrels are very smart and yes, trainable and I could not live without them! But it is hard to have them as pets - they are so strong and scratchy and chew things and climb up and down everything! But they are better off free in the wild, that is for sure! My daughter has a ferret - he is awesome! They live alot longer than mice - her ferret is over 7 now. Sugar gliders are nice, but tiny! Many parrots and birds live as long as people - that would be a pet for life! ;o)
