It work great, but I prefer paper books.

How old is the battery? How long does the existing battery hold a charge?

however long the original has been out is how old the battery is...i don't use it...don't know how long it holds. it's been sitting at my desk unused for years. i gave it enough charge to see that it still powers..and i reset it for new ownership

Thank you for answering so soon. I have the same model of reader you have and will be putting it up for auction when your auction ends, so as not to conflict with your credits/auction. My Kindle, however, needs another battery but will also work fine without by using the AC adapter. Amazon no longer sells the original battery but do have vendors that sell the generic for about 15-20.00.
